Since I haven' t been on the scene as a producer and I haven't displayed any musical artistry since 1997. I figured I would make it easier on myself by blogging a response to a few often asked questions "What have you been doing Chico?", "Why haven't you been active?".
Well
Some people want to credit two particular companies with the full credit for my demise but actually that wasn't enough to stop me. I was involved with too many things and wanted to succeed at all of them at the same time. I was without experience and there were still lessons I had to learn about life and relationships while a lot of things went "haywire" and I had to balance my life out.
Of course, not being compensated for your works contributes to problems but I had released or co-released 15 projects in only 5 years time. From 19 to 24 years old trying to start a family, a business and an empire at the same time was just too much.
There really is no simple answer other than me being true to myself, getting my spirit right, getting other things accomplished like finishing my education with my interests in the building trades by becoming a Master Electrician and a Master Carpenter. I have been working for myself and Companies in the private sector mostly as an Electrician in the Industrial and Commercial fields. My specialties are exposed and suspended conduit work, switchgear assembly, project planning, path picking, feasibility and the practicality of blueprints, and finally lighting design. This would all be summed up as Design/Build in any size project. Finally I usually keep important or key positions as Large Projects Manager or as a Builder.
As long as I remember, I have been both musically and mechanically inclined which I think is a complimenting combination of interests because I simplify the both as Building. I perceive Building a House like I do Building a Song "From the foundation up". Ultimately, I still have goals as a Builder possessing several housing designs that would be approved on any terrain.
I have never stopped making music and I pretty much built my life around maintaining my own recording facility so that I could stay creative. I continued my studies with hand and stick drums under various drummers. I have had a few more things to learn about the music business and went through a lot of changes trying to put R&B, Rap soloists and groups together for myself and at other times for record companies as I sometimes get solicited for talent scouting.
I also have been active as "point" and consultant for a few Indy Record Companies and Artists for marketing analysis and strategy, competition factoring, promotion and A&R.
The independent struggle calls for those involved to be multi-talented or at least be aware of the current status of the given market in order to adapt to its changes. JCSLAMM
In my endeavor to be a better producer, I have familiarized myself with advanced recording techniques like multi-tracking; specifically, delayed micing, drums and ensemble recording. I rarely make my recording facilities available unless I am interested in the project or unless for emergency so recording time is ALL MINE or affiliated Artists.
I have kept the same fervor for composing, songwriting and music production since I was 14 years old and the three still drive and move me the same. I never really thought about getting into music for reasons other than I feel I have something special to contribute to the genres of music that inspire me to create.
Being musically inclined has certain responsibilities and if you are true to your craft then you must adhere to its calling. There were times I felt that I am not making the most of my life because I wasn't active in the music business and a sense of emptiness seemed to be prevalent but it only made me want to perfect.
Being a perfectionist has its pos/neg being: you can achieve unique applications of styling and can bring out your uniqueness as a creator; the negative being that it can cause you to be too hard on yourself in the process or can cause you to put unrealistic goals thereby hindering you from completing the project or completing the project on time.
A creation does not mean a "derivative" of any other idea as much as it means an original design thereby rendering a unique interpretation of the concept.
I have found that there have been a lot of things misconstrued about me, who I am and what I represent and that's why I love the internet because now the truth will be told because I didn't set out to achieve my dreams to be stopped by falsehood.
To all of my supporters "1LOVE" and to all of my enemies "1LOVE" but do you and yours a favor by keeping it real and staying away because I don't expect every one to Love or Like me and Mine.
Subscribe or keep a tab because your boy sure is going to have much to write about.
Till Then

jcs, the site looks great. staying true to yourself and craft have seemed to fall to the way side for a while. The new energy and way of thinking is a breath of fresh air in a time where some people have sold their most important "thing"....their souls....so stay up brother, the struggle is a good teacher and its up to you to learn or not learn....but it seems like you are creating your own path....
